Social media content guide
December 2025
There are many ways school-based health centers (SBHCs) can engage with their community, including hosting open houses and tours, tabling at school and athletic events, and taking part in school newsletters. Running a social media account is another way to communicate with and connect to school and community members and can be a helpful tool for an SBHC to utilize.

This guide is a starting point to an SBHC operator interested in using social media to engage with their community. It includes themes, awareness months/days, and ideas for posting, as well as Canva templates that can be adapted as needed to create graphics to accompany posts.
This guide was developed with input and support from Ohio Alliance regional coordinators and insights from the field.
Using social media guide templates

Step 1
Click the image of the template on each page of the guide. This will take you to a Canva template.
Step 2
Save the design you want to use to your own Canva account before editing. Then, edit the graphic to fit your needs. This might mean changing the wording or adding information about your program, changing the colors to match your branding, or anything else you'd like to do.

Step 3
Download the graphic, write the accompanying text, and post to your SBHC's social media accounts. Think about ways to customize the graphic and text to promote your SBHC, such as highlighting data, facts, and impact stories. Don't forget to tag the Ohio Alliance!
